Our Nutrients For Growth
Empowering communities is a critical piece to the Holistic Safety model. MAAT Concepts connects with community businesses as well as personally provides trainings for mindfulness, self-defense, active shooter civilian response, and disaster preparedness. In addition, community conversations around topics of concern are implemented keeping the conduit of conversation open and transparent. When communities move out of the realm of feeling silenced, we move into the phase of healing.
Officer training breeds the level of customer service provided to citizens. MAAT Concepts provides training to improve communication skills, navigating trauma, and relationship building through community engagement.
Evidence - Based Practices
Utilizing data provides background for resource allocation and best practices in similar communities. By using evidence-based practices, we adhere to the quantitative as well as qualitative data catering responses to communities and staying abreast of successful strategies.
Outside of the Peer Support model, most agencies do not have a committee catering to the mind, body, and spirit of those paid to protect and serve. MAAT Concepts helps agencies figure out cost-effective strategies to place officer wellness at the forefront, and create space for feedback decreasing officer stress while providing service.
Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. As officers and citizens interact, often times breakdowns occur due to a lack of mindfulness. MAAT Concepts provides mindfulness training to community members and officers while emphasizing how mindfulness is officer safety.
All members of the community should have spaces for reconciliation, healing, listening, and possibly silence. Community healing spaces is an ongoing space that regenerates the synergy of human connection without any entity overpowering the experience. Having community healing sessions lets communities vent, but through proper facilitation, offers insight to officer customer service, and creates a space to increase community connectivity.
